How Many People Are Currenlty Registered To Vote

There are nearly 2 million more than Texans registered to vote in the March 3 master than the last fourth dimension in that location was a presidential master on the election in 2016.

The league, which is a nonpartisan organization with capacity beyond the state, is i of many groups in Texas that have been working to register voters alee of the March 3 primary and now ahead of the Nov. three general election. The borderline for the primaries was Feb. 3.

Carlos Huerta, a political science professor at Texas A&M Academy-Corpus Christi said "a lot of enthusiasm" is likely driving the voter registration numbers.

People will be drawn in by the "wide open" Democratic presidential main race, and Republicans are enthused and working to reelect President Donald Trump.

"I call up the intensity is a lot higher and involvement and commitment to voting is a lot higher this time in 2020, compared to 2016," Huerta said.

"Immature Latinos know that this election is celebrated," said Antonio Arellano, interim executive director for Jolt Action, a group dedicated to increase voter participation from the immature Latino customs. Republican Party of Texas chairman James Dickey said the party began "unprecedented voter registration efforts in July 2019."

"Our goal is to register 100,000 new Republican voters in Texas with the help of 10,000 Texas Republican volunteers," Dickey said in a statement. "Nosotros are on pace for the largest field deployment the RPT has always executed and already have double the field staff compared to all of last wheel. The RPT field staff is responsible for registering and engaging Republican voters across the country, and is already well on the way to reaching our 2020 goals."

The large thing to lookout man for now is voter mobilization, Huerta said.

"It's really mobilization and which party is going to be able to become out there and mobilize the new Texas electorate that'south coming in," he said.
